3 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6- 44(a), 6 -47,
4 AND 6- 52(d)(2) OF CHAPTER 6 OF THE CODE OF
5 ORDINANCES FOR THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK
6 PERTAINING TO ANIMAL CONTROL LICENSE FEES,
7 FINES AND OTHER ASPECTS OF ANIMAL CONTROL.

9 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
10 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:

12 SECTION 1. Section 6 -44(a) of the Code of Ordinances of the
13 City of Little Rock is hereby amended to read as follows:
14 (a) It shall be unlawful for any person
15 to own, keep or harbor a dog or cat
16 within the corporate limits of the
17 city without having first paid to
18 the city an annual license fee of
19 five dollars ($5.00) each on all
20 dogs or cats six (6) months of age
21 or over.

23 SECTION 2. Section 6 -47 of the Code of Ordinances of the
24 City of Little Rock is hereby amended to read as follows:
25 SECTION 6 -47. DOG OR CAT BITES. When any dog
26 or cat has bitten, scratched or otherwise
27 attacked a person, that person or anyone having
knowledge of such incident shall immediately
28 notify the animal control center. The dog or
29 cat may be quarantined in the center for a fee
of $40 for a period of at least ten (10) days
30 or at a veterinary hospital at the expense of
31 the owner, or ownership may be relinquished and
the animal euthanized and its head taken to the
32 state health department for a pathological
33 examination. The quarantine may be on the
premises of the owner at the discretion of and
34 under supervision of the director of animal
35 control if an appropriate or suitable place is
available.

SECTION 3. Section 6- 52(d)(2) of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Little Rock is hereby amended to include Subsection
(d)(2) to read as follows:
(d) The fees to be paid to redeem an impounded
dog are as follows:
(2) For a dog that has been
licensed and vaccinated within one
(1) year:
First impoundment .... ...$15.00
Second impoundment (plus $4.00
daily board rate .. .....$25.00
Third impoundment (plus $4.00
daily board rate) .... .. ....$50.00
Each subsequent impoundment (plus
$4.00 daily board rate) ..........$75.00
SECTION 4. All other provisions of Chapter 6 of the Code of
Ordinances not in conflict herewith shall remain in full force and
effect.
SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall become effective January 1,
1990.
