14654143 ORDINANCE NO. 14,65 AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE MOTION PICTURE AND TELEVISION COMMISSION. WHEREAS, the establishment of a Motion Picture and Television Commission would attract additional economic growth to the metropolitan Little Rock area; and WHEREAS, funding will not be necessary for this commission as underwriting will be provided by volunteer fund - raising efforts of commission members; and WHEREAS, other areas in Arkansas have already formed highly effective film commissions which aggressively recruit the motion picture and television industry to our state. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. A Motion Picture and Television Commission is hereby established. The Motion Picture and Television Commission, hereafter referred to as Commission, shall consist of not less than five (5) nor more than fifteen (15) members who will be residents of the City of Little Rock and who shall be selected by the Little Rock Board of Directors. The initial terms of the members of the commission shall be staggered for a period of one (1) year to four (4) years. The Commission members shall draw lots for these terms of one (1) year to four (4) years. Thereafter, the terms of the commissioners shall be for four (4) years. Vacancies shall be filled by appointment by the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock. All members of the Commission shall serve without compensation. The Commission shall elect a chairman and vice - chairman annually from its own number. �1- i 144 SECTION 2. The members of the Commission may direct volunteer fund raising efforts to attract additional economic growth to the Little Rock area by attracting feature films and television productions to this area.
