14777r r r� r ■� r� r r r r r r r� r r 0 0 154 ORDINANCE NO. 14,777 AN ORDINANCE DISPENSING WITH THE REQUIREMENT OF COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO RENEW THE CONTRACT FOR LONG -TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE FOR EMPLOYEES WITH TRAVELERS INSURANCE COMPANY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Board of Directors may dispense with the requirement of competitive bidding in exceptional situations where such procedure is not feasible; and WHEREAS, the City's Long -Term Disability Plan policy with the Traveler's Insurance Company expires November 30, 1984; and WHEREAS, this policy has been in effect since December 1, 1982; and WHEREAS, service provided by Traveler's Insurance has been excellent and the rates continue to be lower than any other company. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The Board of Directors hereby finds that competitive bidding should be dispensed with for the renewal of a contract for long -term disability insurance for employees as an exceptional situation exists and competitive bidding is not feasible. SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to renew the contract with the Traveler's Insurance Company for long -term disability insurance for employees effective December 1, 1984. SECTION 3. Declaring an Emergency. It is hereby found and declared that the City Manager needs to renew the contract for long -term disability insurance for City employees as the present policy expires November 30, 1984, and City employees will C -3 not have insurance in the event of disability unless the policy is renewed. Therefore, an emergency is declared to exist, and this Ordinance is necessary to protect the public health, safety and welfare and shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
