AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ITEM 9 OF SECTION 1 OF
ORDINANCE NUMBER 14,173 TO DECREASE BY $25,000.00
THE AMOUNT APPROPRIATED FROM THE GENERAL FUND FOR
STORM DRAINAGE; APPROPRIATING TWENTY -FIVE THOUSAND
DOLLARS FROM FUNDS PREVIOUSLY APPROPRIATED FOR STORM
DRAINAGE TO FUND SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS FOR THE
REMAINDER OF THE 1982 SCHOOL YEAR; DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, by Ordinance Number 14,173 $224,704.00 was appropriated
from the General Fund for storm drainage; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Directors of the
City of Little Rock to decrease by twenty -five thousand dollars
($25,000.00), the amount previously appropriated from the General
Fund to fund storm drainage and to appropriate the twenty -five
thousand dollars ($25,000.00) to be used to fund school crossing
guards for the remainder of the 1982 school year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Item 9 of Section 1 of Ordinance Number 14,173 is
hereby amended to decrease by twenty -five thousand dollars
($25,000.00), the amount appropriated from the General Fund for
storm drainage.
SECTION 2. Twenty -five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) are hereby
appropriated from funds previously appropriated for storm drainage
to fund school crossing guards for the remainder of the 1982 school
year. From time to time, as may be required, the City Manager and
the Director of Finance are hereby authorized and directed to issue
the necessary warrants to expend the funds appropriated hereby.
SECTION 3. It is hereby found and determined that there is an
immediate and urgent need to appropriate the funds appropriated herein
so that school crossing guards can be provided for the remainder of
the 1982 school year and that the funding of school crossing guards
is necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and
welfare. Therefore, an emergency is declared to exist and this
Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
