A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING EARTH DAY ACTIVITIES
FOR THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK.

WHEREAS, scientists have confirmed that the earth's
environment has reached a state of crisis; and
WHEREAS, Earth Day, April 22, 1990, marks a long term
commitment to building a safe and sustainable planet and will
launch a Decade of the Environment in Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, millions of citizens across the globe will
participate in Earth Day events and programs seeking solutions to
the world problems of energy, food, water, waste and the
environment; and
WHEREAS, to commemorate Earth Day 1990, the City of Little
Rock's Public Works Department will set up a Recycling Center from
1 -5 p.m., Sunday, April 22, at War Memorial Stadium's east parking
lot, between Monroe Street and the Stadium; and
WHEREAS, citizens are urged to drop off items that can be
recycled such as paper, glass, aluminium, waste oils, as well as
auto and home batteries.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK:
SECTION 1: The Board of Directors for the City of Little
Rock encourages citizens to participate in Earth Day activities
and celebrations on April 22, 1990. The Board of Directors further
encourages citizens to make long term commitments toward building
an environmentally safe world in which to live in.
