FOR HIS DEDICATION, LEADERSHIP AND OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. 294 WHEREAS, Hazo W. Carter, Jr. has been President of Philander Smith College for the last four years; and WHEREAS, through Dr. Carter's dedication and leadership the enrollment at Philander Smith College has increased twenty -one percent and; WHEREAS, because of Dr. Carter's efforts financial contributions to Philander Smith College have substantially increased; and WHEREAS, under Dr. Carter's direction, the college has maintained its accreditation from the North Central Colleges and Secondary Schools Association; and WHEREAS, he has provided leadership for the establishment of an athletic club for the purpose of lending financial support to the atheltic program at the college; and WHEREAS, through Dr. Carter's efforts, over $100,000 was raised for the United Negro College Fund in 1986; and WHEREAS, Dr. Carter has given of himself so freely by serving as a director of the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce and the Elizabeth Mitchell's Children's Center; and as a member of the Campaign Cabinet for the United Way of Pulaski County, the Little (Rock Private Industry Council, the Arkansas Department of Higher (Education's Institutional Certification Advisory Committee, and as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Wesley United Methodist Church; and 2- ;15 e - ? 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 WHEREAS, Dr. Carter has also served as treasurer and 295 secretary of the Independent Colleges of Arkansas Association. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock hereby wishes to express its deep appreciation to Hazo W. Carter, Jr. for his outstanding dedication, leadership and service to the citizens of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas.
