3 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND
4 THE CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A WARRANTY DEED TO
5 THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, U.S. FOREST
6 SERVICE, FOR THE EXCHANGE OF A PARCEL ALONG
7 THE SHORELINE OF LAKE WINONA FOR THE LITTLE
8 ROCK WATER WORKS.

10 WHEREAS, the City holds title for the use and benefit of
11 the Little Rock Municipal Water Works to certain lands adjoining,
12 and under the surface of Lake Winona in Saline County, Arkansas,
13 more particularly described as:
14 The Southeast Quarter of the Northwest
Quarter and the West Half of the Southwest
15 Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of
16 Section 25, Township 2 North, Range 18
West, Saline County, Arkansas.

18 ( "Water Works Property "); and
19 WHEREAS; the United States government owns certain lands
20 adjoining, and under the surface of Lake Winona in Saline County,
21 Arkansas, more particularly described as:
Lot 2 in the NW-4 of the NE4, Lot 3 in
22 the NW4 of the NE-4, Lot 4 in the NW4 of
23 the NE4, and Lot 5 in the SE4 of the
NE-14, all in Section 23, Township 2
24 North, Range 18 West, Saline County,
25 Arkansas.
26 ( "U.S. Forestry Service Property "); and
27 WHEREAS, the City and the United States together own all
28 of the land adjoining, and under the surface of Lake Winona but
29 the boundary lines of said tracts are irregular, difficult to
30 establish and traversing the lake from one end to the other
31 resulting in numerous changes of ownerships between the City and
32 the United States such that the ownership is "patchwork" in
33 nature; and
34 WHEREAS, the Little Rock Municipal Water Works and the
35 Secretary of Agriculture and his duly authorized representatives
36 in the National Forest Service have negotiated an exchange of

lands which will result in the City owning a more contiguous
parcel of lands under the surface of Lake Winona and the
United States holding a more contiguous parcel of lands
surrounding the lands owned by the City; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the Little Rock
Municipal Water Works has determined that the Water Works
Property is not needed and serves no useful purpose in connection
with the maintenance and operation of the Little Rock Municipal
Water Works System.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute such deeds as are necessary to convey
through exchange property currently owned by the Little Rock
Water Works for property owned by the United States Forestry
Service.
