A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING BOARD OF DIRECTOR'S
POLICY FOR ZOO SPECIAL EVENTS.
WHEREAS, many groups desire to sponsor special events at the
Little Rock Zoo; and
WHEREAS, a policy should be adopted so that the limited Park
resources are not further restricted and there is no loss of
revenues.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors hereby adopts the
attached policy marked as Exhibit "A" as its policy for special
events to be held at the Little Rock Zoo.

POLICY FOR SPECIAL EVENTS AT THE LITTLE ROCK ZOO
1. The Little Rock Parks and Recreation Department may
jointly sponsor special activity days at the Little Rock Zoo.
2. In order to insure that the City of Little Rock does

not lose revenues, that the public is not confused by competing
special events, and that limited Park resources are not
restricted from the present goals, the following conditions shall
apply for a jointly sponsored activity day at the Zoo.
A. Only non - profit organizations currently holding an
Internal Revenue Service certification of non - profit status are
eligible to apply for permission to sponsor an activity day.
B. The request for the event must be received by the
Little Rock Parks and Recreation Department three months prior to
the event.
C. The admission fees shall be shared so that the City
will receive the average of what is a normal collection on a
typical non - special event day. This shall be determined by the
personnel with the Little Rock Parks and Recreation Department
preparing an estimate and agreed to in advance by the sponsoring
organization prior to the event. The sponsoring organization
will receive all fees collected that exceed the normal estimate.
D. There shall be a limit of three special events per
year per organization. No two events may take place in the same
month. Organizations are encouraged to place events at least two
months apart.
E. The sponsoring organization is responsible for all
preparations for the event. If Park personnel involvement is
mandatory, labor and equipment costs shall be reimbursed in
addition to the estimate for normal revenue to be received by the
City.
F. The sponsoring organization shall be responsible
for all clean -up and repair activities.

G. The sponsoring organization shall execute an
agreement to hold the City harmless in the event of any
litigation. The sponsoring organization shall be liable for all
accidents and injuries directly attributable to the sponsored
event.
H. The sale of alcoholic beverages or any other type
of intoxicating beverages on the premises of the Zoo is
prohibited.
I. Any and all concession items to be sold by
sponsoring organization will be;
A. Approved by the Director of the Parks and
Recreation Department and
B. Shall not lie in direct competition with existing
items sold by the City.
