7161M r r* = M M r� RESOLUTION NO. 7,161 83 A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING MARCH 4 -10 AS WOMEN'S HISTORY WEEK. WHEREAS, American women of every race, class and ethnic background helped found this nation in countless recorded and unrecorded ways as servants, slaves, nurses, nuns, homemakers, industrial workers, teachers, reformers, soldiers, and pioneers; and, WHEREAS, American women have shared equally in the burdens of.building the world's greatest democracy; and WHEREAS, American women have served and continue to serve in critical educational, economic, cultural, and social roles in every sphere of our Nation's life, by constituting a significant portion of the labor force in every economic and domestic sphere; and, WHEREAS, Women have given America the gift of humanity throughout our history by providing the majority of the Nation's volunteer labor force; and, WHEREAS, the Women of America have been particularly important in the establishment of early charitable, philanthropic, and cultural institutions in this country; and, WHEREAS, American women of every race, class, and ethnic background served as early leaders in the vanguard of every major progressive social change movement, not only to secure their own rights, but to extend constitutional rights and the rights of common humanity to our nation and to the world. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: Section 1. The week of March 4 - March 10 is hereby proclaimed to be Women's History Week.
