Bids were opened January 17, 1984. Revised construction cost is estimated at $152,836. The proposed improvements on Markham Street will place underground all aerial facilities, including traffic signals and street lighting, from Cumberland to Arch, and at 2nd and Louisiana. New brown painted steel, signal poles will be installed, along with high pressure sodium shoe box type street lighting fixtures. Ultimately, this design is proposed to extend throughout the CBD, from Scott to Broadway, Markham to I -630, and on Capitol Avenue.
