FROM: Susan Flemin , City Manager
SUBJECT: Bid No. 4100, Contract Construction
Signal Improvements, CBD /Markham Street
BOARD ACTION RECOMMENDED: Resolution - Authorize City
Manager to enter into a contract, not to exceed budget, from
Account No. 599 -8644 for construction of improvements on the
CBD /Markham Street project to the lowest bidder,
Southwestern Electric Company, Oklahoma City. Bids were
opened January 17, 1984. Revised construction cost is
estimated at $152,836.
The proposed improvements on Markham Street will place
underground all aerial facilities, including traffic signals
and street lighting, from Cumberland to Arch, and at 2nd and
Louisiana. New brown painted steel, signal poles will be
installed, along with high pressure sodium shoe box type
street lighting fixtures. Ultimately, this design is
proposed to extend throughout the CBD, from Scott to
Broadway, Markham to I -630, and on Capitol Avenue.
There are insufficient funds in Account 599 -8644 to complete
the project according to the original scope. Improvements
on Louisiana will stop just past 2nd, and not include the
intersections from 3rd to 5th. Continuation of improvements
on Louisiana will be resubmitted as part of the FY '85
funding requests.
Funding shortage is a result
for improvements on Conway,
requirements for the signal
funds are being reserved for
by Parks and Recreation.
