RESOLUTION NO. 7,288
A RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE FOR STUDY AND
IMPLEMENTATION OF SOLUTIONS TO PARKING
DEFICITS IN THE METROCENTER MALL AND
NORTH MAIN STREET AREAS OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, early indications from a study to determine
parking availability in downtown Little Rock are that alarming
deficits will develop in the Metrocenter Mall Area and the North
Main Street Area of the City of Little Rock; and
WHEREAS, this study was commissioned by the City of
Little Rock, the Downtown Partnership and Metrocenter Improvement
District # 1; and
WHEREAS, it is incumbent on the Board of Directors of
the City of Little Rock to determine means to solve the parking
deficits now while the problem is still manageable; and
WHEREAS, that time is rapidly approaching,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Staff is directed to
investigate sources of revenue to be used to solve the problem of
parking deficits anticipated in the early development (one to 5
years) of the Metrocenter Mall Area;
SECTION 2. The City Staff is directed to
investigate sources of revenue to be used to solve the problem of
parking deficits anticipated in the early development (one to 5
years) of the North Main Street Area;
SECTION 3. The City legal staff is directed to
shape the elements of a contract between the City of Little Rock,
the Parking Authority and Metrocenter Improvement District Number
1 to implement the development of two parking decks to serve the
Metrocenter Mall Area and the North Main Street Area of the City
of Little Rock, Arkansas.
