A RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH A CITIZEN'S TASK
FORCE TO DEVELOP AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING
STANDARDS FOR AN OMNIBUS CLEAN AIR ORDINANCE
FOR THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK.
WHEREAS, there has been considerable concern expressed
recently by the Board of Directors to deal with the problem
of smoking in public places, and
WHEREAS, different people have different ideas and
suggestions about how to deal with this problem, and
WHEREAS, these ideas need to be considered fully with
the opportunity to be heard being provided to all citizens, as
was done in San Francisco, which resulted in legislation that
was adopted without opposition, and
WHEREAS, this input needs to be accomplished in an
efficient, and expeditious manner,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK:
SECTION 1. The Mayor of the City of Little Rock be
empowered to appoint a citizen's task force comprised of at
least nine persons, with representatives from the public,
real estate management, restauranteers, and the retail sales
community, to review, study and present an Omnibus Clean Air
Ordinance to be adopted by the Board of Directors of the City
of Little Rock that sets forth standards for the establishment
and enforcement of smoking provisions within buildings located
in the City of Little Rock.
SECTION 2. This report is to be presented to the Board
of Directors on June 15, 1985, after the holding of at least
one public hearing.
