RESOLUTION NO. 71351 134
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING VARIOUS LAW ENFORCEMENT
AGENCIES FOR THEIR ASSISTANCE IN THE SEARCH FOR
LITTLE ROCK POLICE OFFICER RONALD D. GHORMLEY AND
THE SUBSEQUENT ARREST OF THE SUSPECTS INVOLVED IN
SAID KIDNAPPING.
WHEREAS, Little Rock Police Officer Ronald D. Ghormley
was forced into a vehicle by armed suspects on March 29, 1985;
and
WHEREAS, the Little Rock Police Department provided
invaluable assistance leading to the ultimate rescue of Officer
Ghormley and the ultimate apprehension of his captors; and
WHEREAS, the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department
arrested the suspects within a short period of time due to the
excellent police work of Deputy Marty McCray and Reserve Deputy
Donald Meaders, and
WHEREAS, the Arkansas State Police assisted in the
rescue of Officer Ghormley; and
WHEREAS, the Saline County Sheriff's Department also
aided in the search for Officer Ghormley and his captors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. The Little Rock Police Department, the
Pulaski County Sheriff's Department, Deputy Marty McCray and
Reserve Deputy Donald Meaders, the Saline County Sheriff's
Department, and the Arkansas State Police are hereby commended
for their outstanding efforts in assisting in the rescue of
Officer Ghormley and in the subsequent arrest of the two suspects
involved in the abduction.
SECTION 2. The Board of Directors recognizes these law
enforcement agencies as deserving of special recognition due to
their outstanding service on March 29, 1985.
