7340M M M � RESOLUTION NO. 7,340 M M M M A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND SUPPORTING OFFICERS OF THE LITTLE ROCK POLICE DEPARTMENT AND EMPHASIZING MAJOR CRIME PREVENTION AND ENFORCEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES. WHEREAS, the officers of the Little Rock Police Department are to be commended for their outstanding contributions to the safety of the citizens of Little Rock; and WHEREAS, the primary responsibility of the Little Rock Police Department is to combat crime and protect the lives and property of Little Rock's citizens; and WHEREAS, de- emphasizing radar speed control except as necessary at certain times in certain areas, will result in the availability of officers for other critical duties; and WHEREAS, there is a need to correct the erroneous perception held by some members of the public that the Little Rock Police Department officers are needed to raise revenue for the City through the writing of traffic tickets. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. That the Little Rock Police Department officers are hereby commended for their work in combating crime and in protecting the lives and property of the citizens of Little Rock. SECTION 2. That it is not the purpose of the Little Rock Police Department to raise revenues for the City through the writing of traffic tickets. SECTION 3. That the major crime prevention and enforcement responsibilities of the Little Rock Police Department are to be emphasized and the personnel of the Little Rock Police Department are to be utilized in the most effective and efficient way to reduce crime and accidents. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary 117 herein, this Resolution is not intended in anyway to condone any violations of traffic laws by the citizens of this community.
