RESOLUTION NO. 7,547
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE
OF FUNDS FOR THE RENOVATION OF CITY HALL.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into
all necessary contracts for the renovation of City Hall.
SECTION 2. These funds have previously been appropriated
by Ordinance Nos. 14,383, 14,779 and 14,802.

SUBJECT: City Hall Renovation

BOARD ACTION RECOMMENDED: Approval of a resolution to
expend $2.1 million to renovate City Hall and remodel the
Old Fire Station.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The rehabilitation work under this
project would include the following:
Minimum rehabilitation of City Hall .......... $1,400,000
- New roof
- Reopen most windows
- Repair east porches
- Tuck - pointing, masonry and coating repair
- Repair and repaint copper and wood
- New variable volume HVAC system
- Partial new electrical system, including fire alarm
system, code deficiency improvements
- Upgrade plumbing
- Modification of partitions to facilitate reopening
windows; interior window trim; plaster repair,
mechanical and electrical cutting and patching;
modification of dropped ceilings to facilitate reopening
of windows; and minor cleaning, painting and repairs.
Renovation of Old Fire Station ...............$ 702,000
- Exterior rehabilitation
- New single elevator
- New fire stair
- New plumbing, including toilets
- Building interior quality rehabilitation
- New "package" unit HVAC
- New electrical /lighting system
- Connecting link between City Hall and
Old Fire Station

At Wednesday's agenda session, a question was raised
concerning the appropriation of funds for the renovation of
City Hall. Those funds were appropriated as follows:
1983: $ 50,000
1984: 279,000
1985: 1,971,000
Grand Total $2,300,000
As of January 14, 1986, a total of $199,156 had been spent
and /or encumbered, leaving a balance of $2,100,844.
