A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH MATSON, INC.
FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE GREAT APE DISPLAY
AT THE LITTLE ROCK ZOO; AND AUTHORIZING
THE CONTINUED USE OF ZOO ADMISSION FEES
FOR SAID PROJECT; AND AUTHORIZING AND
APPROVING NECESSARY ADVANCES FROM THE
CITY'S GENERAL FUND PRIOR TO RECEIPT OF
STATE MONIES AND DONATIONS FROM FRIENDS
OF THE ZOO.
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors has approved the use of
$350,000.00 from Zoo receipts for the construction of the Great
Ape Display along with $650,000.00 previously appropriated this
year; and
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Zoo have committed to raise
$100,000.00 to assist in the construction of the Great Ape
Display; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation expects funds of at
least $50,000.00 from the State of Arkansas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
enter into a contract with Matson, Inc. for the construction'
of the Great Ape Display at the Little Rock Zoo.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
continue using Zoo admission fees for the construction of
this project.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
make the necessary advances from the General Fund for said
construction prior to receiving state monies and donations
from the Friends of the Zoo. ---- -- - -
