A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER

TO TAKE THE NECESSARY STEPS TO BEGIN THE

PLANNING PROCESS FOR A MULTI - PURPOSE ARENA

IN THE LITTLE ROCK AREA.

WHEREAS, the Board of Directors for the City of Little Rock
9
recognizes the need for a multi - purpose arena in the Central
10
Arkansas area; and
11
WHEREAS, said arena, if properly located will complement
12
existing hotel, retail, commercial and office development in
13
the central business district of the Little Rock area; and
14
WHEREAS, the planning process for the financing and construction
15
of such an arena should now be accomplished.
16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:

Section I. The Board of Directors is in support of an arena
19
to be constructed in an area that will enhance the Little Rock
20
downtown area.

Section 2. The financing of said arena should be broadbased,
22 with a strong emphasis being placed on private funding, which
23
will generate the leverage necessary for any public funding needed.
24 Section 3. In order to accomplish this, the City Manager
25
is hereby authorized and directed to establish the appropriate
26 process needed to convene representatives of Little Rock, North
27 Little Rock, Pulaski County, University of,Arkansas at Little
28 Rock, the Greater Little Rock Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown
29 Partnership and other private sector interests for the purpose
30 of planning the financing and construction of a multi - purposed
31
arena.
