117631 2 3 4 • RESOLUTION NO. 11,763 • 2004046939 86/11/2884 82:85:88 PH Filed 8 Recorded in Official Records of CAROLYN STALEY PULASKI COUNTY CIRCUIT /COUNTY CLERK Fees $14.80 A RESOLUTION TO CHANGE THE NAME OF 20TH STREET, FROM INTERSTATE 30 TO UNIVERSITY AVENUE, TO CHARLES BUSSEY 5 AVENUE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 6 7 WHEREAS, Charles Bussey was first elected to the Little Rock Board of Directors 8 in 1969, becoming the first Afro- American elected official in Arkansas since 9 Reconstruction, and 10 WHEREAS, in 1981, Mr. Bussey was elected Mayor of Little Rock, by his fellow 11 Board members, becoming the first Afro - American to serve in that position in Little 12 Rock; and 13 WHEREAS, Mr. Bussey served with distinction on the Little Rock Board of 14 Directors for more than 20 years; and 15 WHEREAS, at its May 6, 2004 meeting, the Planning Commission of the City of 16 Little Rock voted unanimously to recommend renaming this portion of 201h Street to 17 Charles Bussey Avenue. 18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. Section 1. In recognition of Charles Bussey's historic achievements and as a display of respect for Mr. Bussey's dedicated public service, the name of 201h Street, from Interstate 30 to University Avenue is hereby changed to Charles Bussey Avenue. Section 2. This resolution shall be in effect sixty (60) days from and after its adoption and the City Manager is hereby directed to notify all City Departments and, agencies of said change.
