11544RESOLUTION NO. 11,544 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ANNOUNCE THE SUPPORT OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A NATIONWIDE NETWORK OF SISTER STATES THAT IS KNOWN AS: THE TAIWAN — UNITED STATES SISTER STATES RELATIONS ALLIANCE. Whereas, currently, forty-two (42) states of the United States have established individual "Sister States" relationships without cohesive coordination of activities, the goal of the Taiwan — United States Sister Relations Alliance is to enhance and strengthen each state's activities by the formation of a nationwide organization of "Sister States" that can assist on -going programs and can stimulate new initiatives. In do doing, this nationwide Alliance (TUSA) will open new channels of communications and create a broad range of new opportunities for greater cooperation and more efficient services for all parties involved. Whereas, on the 91h day of April, 2003, the Taiwan — United States Sister Relations Alliance was organized in Little Rock, Arkansas, United States of America, with the principal office located in the City of Little Rock, County of Pulaski, State of Arkansas and recognized by the State of Arkansas, United States of America as an incorporated non - profit, non - government entity; and Whereas, all states, the District of Columbia, and the respective Territories of the United States of America are eligible to become members the Alliance and; Whereas, on behalf of all Citizens of Little Rock, Arkansas, we hereby agree to recognize and promote the Taiwan — United States Sister City Relations Alliance as a recognized and legal entity that will enhance coordinated activities of all the states and territories of the United States through cultural exchange, educational partnerships, and economic opportunities for the states of the United States and the people of Taiwan. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: Section 1. The Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to prepare and publish any written documents necessary to reflect this recognition and support of the Taiwan — United States Sister Relations Alliance. Section 2. This resolution shall be in full force and affect from and after adoption. 0 0 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: Section 1. The City of Little Rock, Arkansas herby recognizes and agrees to promote The Taiwan — United States Sister Relations Alliance. Section 2. The Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to prepare and publish any written documents necessary to reflect this recognition and support of the Taiwan United States Sister Relations Alliance.
