A RESOLUTION CHANGING THE NAME OF A
PORTION OF SOUTH ELM STREET TO JACK
STEPHENS DRIVE (G -25 -186).
WHEREAS, the.University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS)
occupies the majority of the properties abutting South Elm Street from West
Markham Street to West 7th Street; and
WHEREAS, UAMS wishes to recognize Jack Stephens for his
contributions to the medical facility by renaming South Elm Street in his honor;
and
WHEREAS, the Little Rock Planning Commission held a public hearing on
January 9, 2003 at which the proposal to change the street name was heard; and
WHEREAS, the Little Rock Planning Commission voted unanimously to
recommend approval of the requested street name change.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. That the name of South Elm Street, between West Markham
Street and West 7th Street, is hereby changed to Jack Stephens Drive,
SECTION 2. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and the City Manager is hereby directed to notify all City
departments of said change.
