3 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER
4 INTO A CONTRACT WITH ST. JOHN MISSIONARY BAPTIST
5 CHURCH FOR THE LEASE OF PARK LAND, SPECIFICALLY THE
6 SOUTH LITTLE ROCK COMMUNITY CENTER.

8 WHEREAS, Little Rock Parks and Recreation recently completed a community -
9 driven, comprehensive master parks plan that stresses the importance of "partnerships
10 and collaboratives ", and
11 WHEREAS, the master parks plan specifically suggest that Little Rock Parks and
12 Recreation find a partner to manager and operate the South Little Rock Community
13 Center, and
14 WHEREAS, St. John Missionary Baptist Church submitted a proposal to lease this
15 facility and operate it in a manner consistent with community center operations, and
16 WHEREAS, this proposal met or exceeded all Little Rock Parks and Recreation
17 expectations and philosophies outlined in the master parks plan, and
18 WHEREAS, this action will allow Little Rock Parks and Recreation to continue
19 building a "City in a Park ".
20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
21 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
22 Section 1. The City of Little Rock Board of Directors authorizes the City Manager
23 to enter into contract negotiations with St. John Missionary Baptist Church to lease the
24 South Little Rock Community Center and adjoining park property.
