NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:, SECTION 1. The Little Rock Fire Department is hereby authorized to provide service on a contract basis from May 1, 2001 to April 30, 2002 to: Koch Materials, 601 Shamburger Lane; Levi - Strauss, 15000 Panatela Parkway; Sharper Image, 2112 E. 145th Street; and Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc., 14000 Dineen Drive. SECTION 2. These businesses shall pay a "ready to serve" fee in an amount determined by multiplying 10 mills times the assessed valuation of the lands and buildings being served. In addition, each applicant shall pay a usage fee of one hundred dollars ($100.00) per hour or fraction thereof for each firefighting company which responds to an alarm on the premises of the applicant, whether the alarm is false or the result of a fire. BILES, FINANCE DIRECTOR DATE: NOVEMBER 16, 2001 SUBJECT: OUT OF CITY FIRE PROTECTION Four industries contract with the City for fire protection. The companies requesting fire protection for 2001 -2002 are as follows: Koch Materials 601 Shamburger Lane $1,227.00 Levi Strauss 15000 Panatela Parkway $9,081.00 Sharper Image 2112 E. 145`h Street $3,860.00 Siemens — Allis, Inc. 14000 Dineen Drive $5,732.00 The amount billed for protective services covers a period of one year from May 1, 2001 to April 30, 2002. The billed amount is based on the assessed value of the buildings covered. A millage rate of 10 mills is applied to the assessed property value. In addition to the ready -to- service fee, companies will be billed at the rate of $100.00 per hour for each fire fighting unit that responds to an alarm on the premises of the company. In accordance with Section 12 -66(b) of the Little Rock City Code, we have prepared the resolution to authorize Out of City Fire Protection for these businesses. This resolution should have come before the Board earlier this year. I have established a cross - checking tickler file to assure that this will be brought to the Board in April from now on.
