110291 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 0 0 RESOLUTION NO. 11,029 A RESOLUTION TO NAME BRUCE BENNETT, WALTER NUNNELLY, AND JIM SHAMBURGER AS NEW MEMBERS OF THE LITTLE ROCK ADVERTISING & PROMOTION COMMISSION; TO THANK EVETTE BRADY, LINDA JOYCE AND WALLY ALLEN FOR THEIR SERVICE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, pursuant to Ark. Code Ann. § 26 -75 -605 (Michie 1997), the City is authorized to maintain a seven (7) member advertising and promotion commission which consists of four members who are owners or managers of businesses in the tourism industry, two members who are also members of the City Board of Directors, and one member who is selected at- large, and WHEREAS, there are currently two positions to be filled, and a third position to be filled on May 1, 2001, and, WHEREAS, pursuant to state statute and City ordinance, the Board has received recommendations, subject to Board approval, of three persons to fill these vacancies, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 19 Section 1. The Board accepts and approves the recommendations of the Little 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 Rock Advertising and Promotion Commission that the following persons be named to the Commission: A. Walter Nunnelly, to fill an industry position, effective immediately, which was previously held by Evette Brady; B. Bruce Bennett, to fill an at -large position; effective immediately; which was previously held by Linda Joyce; and, C. Jim Shamburger, to fill an industry position effective May 1, 2001, upon the expiration of the current term of Wally Allen. Section 2. The Board of Directors wishes to express its sincere thanks and appreciation for the service of Ms. Evette Brady, Ms. Linda Joyce, and Mr. Wally Allen, as members of this most important City commission; further, the City notes with pride that during the terms of service of these individuals, particularly under the leadership of Wally 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 6 0 Allen as Chair, the City has recaptured the initial City hotel and convention center through a lease arrangement that has resulted in the Doubletree Hotel; has redeveloped and expanded the Statehouse Convention Center; and, has successfully pursued and negotiated a lease which has resulted in the future location of a Peabody Hotel within the City, to name just a few of the many accomplishments of this commission.
