A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS WITH
NEW FUTURES FOR YOUTH, INC. FOR IDENTIFYING
THREE ADOLESCENT SUBSTANCE ABUSE ISSUES AND
PREPARING AND CARRYING OUT A PLAN TO
ADDRESS THE ISSUES THROUGH EDUCATION AND
ADVOCATING FOR POLICY CHANGE
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock has been committed to prevention, intervention and
treatment programs to enhance public safety, community- building, and youth development; and,
WHEREAS, the City issued a Request for Proposals to obtain a consultant to research
adolescent substance abuse issues in Little Rock. The consultant will select three of the most
serious issues and develop a plan that will include the education of public officials and a strategy
for addressing the issues thorough public policy change.
WHEREAS, New Futures for Youth, Inc., was deemed the most qualified applicant; and,
WHEREAS, a five - member selection committee identified and recommended the most
qualified applicant for the Adolescent Substance Abuse Issue Identification and Policy Change
Advocacy Services contract.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into contract negotiations with
New Futures for Youth, Inc. to provide quality research, education and planning services
addressing adolescent substance abuse issues in Little Rock.
SECTION 2. The contract term shall be for from February 15, 2001 to February 15,
2002.
SECTION 3. Funding for this project in the amount of $52,855 is from funds remaining
from Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant #024539, account number 210 - 035 -8300.
