RESOLUTION NO. 10,951
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CONCEPT OF STATE FAIR HOUSING
LEGISLATION THAT IS SUBSTANTIALLY EQUIVALENT TO FEDERAL
LAW DURING THE 83RD ARKANSAS GENERAL ASSEMBLY
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Directors have previously supported the passage of
substantially equivalent Fair Housing legislation since 1988, and,
WHEREAS, the City efforts to pass permissive legislation for municipalities to seek
federally approved substantially equivalent Fair Housing Enforcement Authority failed
during the 1999 Arkansas General Assembly, and,
WHEREAS, the City has been working with the Senate and House Interim City, County
and Local Government Committee, Arkansas Municipal League, the Arkansas Realtors
Association and others to draft a state -wide substantially equivalent Fair Housing Law
since the end of the 1999 Session of the Arkansas General Assembly, and,
WHEREAS, there is a considerable statewide support for the passage of a substantially
equivalent Fair Housing legislation in the 2001 Session of the Arkansas General
Assembly.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK:
Section 1: The City of Little Rock will support passage of a State Fair Housing
legislation that is substantially equivalent to the federal law during the 2001 Session of
the Arkansas General Assembly, and for other purposes.
