A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANA& O O
ENTER INTO CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS WITH
ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO WELFARE TO
WORK ELIGIBLE CLIENTS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock was awarded a $5,000,000 grant from the United
States Department of Labor to provide Welfare to Work services to Pulaski County residents;
and,
WHEREAS, on August 22, 1999, the City of Little Rock issued Request for Proposals to
solicit educational and/or occupational skills training and support services to assist Welfare to
Work eligible clients; and,
WHEREAS, after reviewing the proposals of responding agencies the following
agencies were selected to provide designated services;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into contract negotiations with the
following providers for the City's Welfare to Work program:
1. Central AR Substance Abuse Programs for Addiction Assessment, Counseling
and Referral Coordination (Bid #99 -314) for an amount not to exceed $41,800;
2. Goodwill Industries for Job Readiness (Bid #99 -319) for an amount not to exceed
$43,125;
3. CATA for Transportation Coordination (Bid #99 -312) for an amount not to
exceed $38,320;
4. Pulaski Technical College for Education Coordination (Bid #99 -315) for an
amount not to exceed $38,079;
5. Pulaski Enterprise Community for Job Recruitment and Job Placement (Bid #99-
313) for an amount not to exceed $76,000; and,
SECTION 2. Funding is available from the U.S. Department of Labor, Welfare to Work
Competitive Grant.
