3 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPLICATION TO THE
4 INTEREST ON LAWYER'S TRUST ACCOUNTS (IOLTA)
5 FOUNDATION FOR A SMALL CLAIMS MEDIATION
6 PROGRAM GRANT.

8 WHEREAS, these funds will allow the Third Division Municipal Court to develop a Small
9 Claims Mediation Program modeled after Pulaski County's pilot program; and
10 WHEREAS, this program will allow clients of the Little Rock Municipal Court system to
11 resolve property damage disputed through a neutral third party mediator; and
12 WHEREAS, the program will provide low cost mediation services to Little Rock residents
13 and county residents; and
14 WHEREAS, mediation will also reduce the court workload thereby resulting in a
15 considerable fiscal savings.
16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
17 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
18 SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to apply for funding from the Interest on
19 Lawyers Trust Accounts (IOLTA) Foundation to fund a Small Claims Mediation Program.
20 SECTION 2. The application is for $10,000 and does not require a match.
21 SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
