3 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A BID AWARD FOR THE
4 STABILIZATION AND REHABILITATION OF CURRAN
5 HALL TO AUSTIN CONSTRUCTION COMPANY; AND FOR
6 OTHER PURPOSES.

8 WHEREAS, Curran Hall and properties comprising the Little Rock Visitors
9 Information Center were purchased by the City of Little Rock from 1996 to 1999 for
10 $157,000.00; and
11 WHEREAS, the phased stabilization and rehabilitation of Curran Hall has resulted
12 in the project being opened for bid on May 25, 1999, with two bids having been received,
13 and Austin Construction Company submitting the lower bid, with deducts, in the amount of
14 $168,596.00; and
15 WHEREAS, the total project costs for Phase I Stabilization are $190,513.00; and
16 WHEREAS, the City has previously allocated $100,000.00 for this project from a
17 1998 General Fund appropriation, the Convention and Visitors Bureau has agreed to provide
18 $30,000.00 for this phase of the project, the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program has
19 allocated $40,000.00, and $6,655.00 has been allocated from the City's Landmark Grant
20 Funds; and
21 WHEREAS, this phase of rehabilitation is essential in safeguarding the historic
22 structure, which was built in 1842 -43.
23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
24 OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
25 SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with Austin
26 Construction Company for the phased stabilization and rehabilitation of Curran Hall in an
27 amount not to exceed $170,000.00.
