3 A RESOLUTION TO COMMEND CITY EMERGENCY SERVICES
4 PERSONNEL, AND THE PERSONNEL AT THE LITTLE ROCK
s NATIONAL AIRPORT, FOR THEIR PROMPT AND PROFESSIONAL
6 RESPONSE TO THE CRASH OF AMERICAN AIRLINES FLIGHT 1420;
7 AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

9 WHEREAS, on Tuesday, June 1, 1999, American Airlines Flight 1420 from Dallas to
10 Little Rock crashed upon landing at the Little Rock National Airport, and
11 WHEREAS, there was a tragic loss of ten lives as a result of the accident, but that it
12 could have been much worse if not for the prompt response of City police, fire, and ambulance
13 emergency services personnel, and by prompt and immediate response by personnel of the
14 Little Rock National Airport, and
is WHEREAS, the emergency reaction plan in place for such an event was followed and
16 essentially worked to perfection,
17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
18 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
19 . Section 1. The Board of Directors commends the personnel of the Little Rock
20 National Airport, and City police, fire and ambulance personnel, for their prompt, efficient and
21 professional response — a response that literally saved lives -- to the crash of American Airlines
22 Flight No. 1420.
