3 A RESOLUTION TO PRIORITIZE THE REUSE,
a REHABILITATION AND RECONSTRUCTION
s ACTIVITIES IN CITY- SUPPORTED NEIGHBORHOOD
e REVITALIZATION PROGRAMS; AND FOR OTHER
7 PURPOSES.
s WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, is committed to provide a safe and
9 healthy living environment for all Little Rock residents, and
10 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock has designated neighborhood revitalization as a
11 primary component in its strategy to secure a safe and healthful living environment for all
12 Little Rock residents, and
13 WHEREAS, to address neighborhood revitalization issues, the City of Little Rock has
14 implemented a number of programs to support re -use, rehabilitation, reconstruction,
15 construction, or demolition of residential, commercial and other non - residential structures,
16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
17 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
18 Section 1. The intent of the City, in its review of existing buildings with structural
19 components that are not in conformance with City building codes, is to encourage the reuse,
20 rehabilitation, and reconstruction of these structures. It shall be the policy of the City to seek
21 demolition of any such structures after efforts to rehabilitation have failed and, only because
22 such action is necessary to protect the public health, safety and welfare.
