WHEREAS, during the past two months the Mayor, City Board Members and staff have had the opportunity to present the "Building a Better Little Rock" Program to a variety of neighborhood groups and organizations; and WHEREAS, these opportunities have resulted in meaningful dialogue concerning the current needs of Little Rock; and WHEREAS, there has been clear consensus that the city must move forward with a comprehensive package that addresses capital improvements, quality of life enhancements, public safety issues, neighborhood development, housing and historic preservation and tornado disaster relief; and WHEREAS, the City has positive citizen comments and support from community groups, neighborhood associations, the business community and individual citizens. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. Sales and Use Tax Option A is hereby approved. This Option contains $149,875,000 in Capital Improvements and $9,300,000 in annual operations. A description of the capital improvements is attached as "Option A' and incorporated by reference herein. The City Attorney is hereby directed to prepare the necessary ordinances to call a special election.
