3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE AN APPLICATION
a T O THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
5 ADMINISTRATION FOR A DISASTER RECOVERY
6 PLANNING GRANT; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
8 WHEREAS, on January 21, 1999, the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, was
9 devastated by tornadoes which took two lives, damaged over 700 structures, and
10 destroyed a large section of the City's historic district, and
11 WHEREAS, federal disaster relief funds are necessary to help provide economic
12 recovery assistance for the commercial and historical areas of the City affected by the
13 storms, and
14 WHEREAS, the Economic Development Administration can authorize the City
15 to submit an application for said purpose, and
16 WHEREAS, the application conforms with the policies of the Central Arkansas
17 Planning and Development District's 1998 Economic Development Plan as formulated
18 to achieve the goals adopted by this Board of Directors in its commitment to develop,
19 enhance, and maintain the best possible physical, social and economic environments for
20 the residents of the City,
21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
22 OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
23 Section 1. The City is authorized to submit to the Economic Development
24 Administration the necessary Disaster Recovery Planning Grant Application, the related
25 Scope of Work, and the proposed budget.
