3 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER
4 INTO A CONTRACT WITH ARKANSAS CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL,
5 FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE ASSESSMENT AND REFERRAL SERVICES
6 IN 1999; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

8 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock was awarded a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson
9 Foundation to implement the Juvenile Justice Treatment initiative to provide substance abuse assessment
10 and referral for substance abusing adolescents entering or currently in the Pulaski County Juvenile Justice
1 1 System, and their parents /guardians suspected of having problems with alcohol and /or drugs; and,
12 WHEREAS, the City desires to enter into a one -year contract with Arkansas Children's Hospital
13 for substance abuse assessment and referral services.
14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
15 CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
16 SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with Arkansas Children's
17 Hospital, for an amount not to exceed $72,456, for the term of January 1, 1999, through December 31,
18 1999. Said contract will allow for two additional one -year extensions, at the sole option of the City based
19 upon acceptable performance and sufficient funding.
20 SECTION 2. Funding is available from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant awarded to
21 the City of Little Rock.
