10418M 1 )oP Ipt 0 0 RESOLUTION NO. 10,418 558 A RESOLUTION TO ALLOW CONTINUED TIME FOR THE CREATION OF A SOUTH UNIVERSITY AVENUE REDEVELOPMENT DISTRICT FROM INTERSTATE -30 TO ASHER AVENUE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the Board of Directors adopted Little Rock, Ark., Resolution No. 10,131 on November 18, 1997, which declared the intent to create a redevelopment district with overlay features from Interstate -30 to Asher Avenue; and WHEREAS, this resolution included 120 day moratorium on enforcement of the City sign ordinance in this area; and WHEREAS, that initial 120 days was extended an additional 120 days by Resolution No. 12,218 (240 day period); and WHEREAS, this time period expired ON July 16, 1998 without the request for an additional 120 day moratorium on enforcement of the City sign ordinance; and WHEREAS, the work on this district is not yet complete; and WHEREAS, the Board wishes to express irs continued support and intent to create such a district and to continue to encourage discussions between the City and the business owners in this district. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. During the development of this plan, but for a period not to exceed 45 days from the adoption of this resolution, the Director of Planning and Development, may permit a temporary waiver of the requirements of City sign ordinances as a means of experimentation with ideas that property owners believe would assist in the redevelopment of this area, provided that such a waiver is applied for by a property owner, or the owner's designated representatives, is granted in writing, and shall be in effect for no more than the 120 days set forth in this section. SECTION 2. At the end of the 45 day period the Director of Planning and Development will give a report, to the Board of Directors, for recommendations and provisions to the sign ordinance for this corridor.
