3 A RESOLUTION CREATING AN ANIMAL SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD FOR THE CITY3 05

5 OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.

7 WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Little Rock to create an Animal Services Advisory
8 Board to assist the Animal Services Division in the establishment of animal control policies and
9
10 procedures and related matters.

12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
13 LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. There is hereby created an Animal Services Advisory Board. Said Commission shall
16
17 be organized and shall function in accordance with the policies and procedures governing Little
18 Rock Board and Commissions. The Animal Services Advisory Board shall be composed of seven
19 (7) citizens, one of which should be a veterinarian, one should be an attorney experienced in animal
20 cases and one an animals' group representative. All should be qualified electors of the City of Little
21 Rock, Arkansas. The members shall be appointed by the Board of Directors. The initial term of
22
23 three members shall be for a period of three (3) years; two (2) members serving a period of two (2)
24 years and two (2) members serving for a one (1) year period. The terms of each member appointed
25 shall be determined by the drawing of lots at the first meeting of the Advisory Board.

SECTION 2. The Animal Services Advisory Board shall assist the City Manager and /or his/her
28
29 designee in evaluating the policies and procedures of the Division, reviewing and recommending
30 revisions to the Animal Code, assisting in the Division's public education efforts and such other
31 related matters where input from the general public is requested by the City Manager and/or his /her
32 designee.
