A RESOLUTION AMENDING LITTLE ROCK RES. NO. 9,488
AUTHORIZING AN EXTENSION OF THE INTERLOCAL
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITIES OF LITTLE ROCK AND
MAUMELLE FOR MEMS AMBULANCE SERVICE, "1'0 CLARIFY
"AMBULANCE SERVICE "; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the Little Rock Ambulance Authority ("LRAA"), d /b /a Metropolitan
Emergency Medical Services ( "MEMS ") currently holds the exclusive franchise to provide all
ambulances services (emergency and non- emergency) to Maumelle per interlocal agreement between
the Cities of Little Rock and Maumelle; and
WHEREAS, the interlocal a_reement provides that the LRAA shall provide all ambulance
services to the Citizens of Maumelle; and
WHEREAS, Little Rock Res. 9,488 authorizes NIFNIS to continue the delivery of emergency
medical services to Maumelle when, in fact, HEMS had been and continues to deliver all ambulance
service to the citizens of Maumelle since 1994.
NOW, THEREFORE, 13E IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
Little Rock, Ark. Res. No_ 9,488 (September 5, 1995) is hereby amended as follows:
"SECTION 1. In order for the LRAA to continue the delivery of all ambulance services
pursuant to an exclusive franchise in the City of' Maumelle, Arkansas, the Board hereby authorizes
the execution of an Interlocal Agreement with the city of Maumelle, Arkansas, for one year, with
automatic extensions of one year terms, beginning on the date the Interlocal Agreement is signed.
SECTION 2. For purposes of this I"OlUtion, the term "ambulance services" shall include
the transportation and care provided the critically ill or injured prior to arrival at a medical facility and
within a medical facility subject to the individual approval of the medical staff and governing board
of that facility, and further the transport to or from medical facilities including but not limited to
hospitals, nursing homes, physician's of3ices, and other health care facilities, of persons who are
infirm or injured and who are transported in a reclining position or who are ill but considered to be
non- emergency in status and who request ambulance transportation."
