A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH UALR FOR WORK
IN CONNECTION WITH THE "OAK FOREST INITIATIVE ",
TO IMPROVE HOUSING IN THE GENERAL AREA OF 28TH
STREET BETWEEN BOULEVARD AND HARRISON
STREETS.
WHEREAS, UALR has chosen to invest $190,000 from its HUD Special Purpose Grant for
targeted housing initiatives in the Oak Forest Area east of campus; and
WHEREAS, to further the impact in the area, UALR has chosen to partner with the City of
Little Rock to leverage additional funds to achieve this effort; and
WHEREAS, grant applications are currently being written to leverage additional private
funding and corporate and nonprofit sponsors have agreed to assist in the initiative either through
financial or in -kind contributions; and
WHEREAS, plans in the initiative also include the development of a community garden in
the target area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into an agreement with UALR for
work in connection with the "Oak Forest Initiative ", to improve housing in the general area of 28th
Street between Boulevard and Harrison Streets.
SECTION 2. Funding up to $150,000 is available from the HOME Investment Partnership
Program to leverage with $190,000 from UALR's Special purpose grant.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
