A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ACCEPT BIDS AND AWARD A
CONTRACT TO AMERICAN SIGNAL
CORPORATION FOR THE PURCHASE OF FOUR
(4) OUTDOOR WARNING SIRENS FOR THE
DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to accept bids
and award a contract to American Signal Corporation of Mequon,
Wisconsin, the low bidder meeting specifications, in an amount
not to exceed $43,115 for the purchase of four (4) outdoor
warning sirens for the Department of General Services.
SECTION 2. This resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.

RECOMMENDATION AND DISCUSSION: It is recommended that the low
bidder meeting specifications be accepted. Safety Com, Inc, was
disqualified for failing to bid a unit that operates from utility
provided power. This unit operates on battery power which would
require maintenance of the batteries and eventual replacement
which would make their overall cost higher. General Services has
contacted AP & L and found that the electrical cost would not be
lower for the battery units.
