A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ACCEPT BIDS AND AWARD A
CONTRACT TO FLIR SYSTEMS, INC., FOR
THE PURCHASE OF A THERMAL IMAGING
SYSTEK FOR THE LITTLE ROCK POLICE
DEPARTMENT_
WHEREAS, the Police Department's OH -58A helicopter has been
a valuable enforcement tool in deterring criminal acts,
responding to crimes in progress, and providing aerial searches
and observation; and
WHEREAS, the addition of a thermal imaging system will
further extend the enforcement capabilities of the helicopter by
providing a tool that reduces the advantage of darkness in the
commission of criminal acts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to accept bids
and award a contract to FLIR of Portland, Oregon, in an amount
not to exceed $147,000 for the purchase of a thermal imaging
system for the Little Rock Police Department.
SECTION 2. Funds are available for this purchase by
transferring $147,000 from the departments 1995 budget savings
carryover from the Special Investigations Division (5100) to the
Special Operations Division (5515).
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.
