A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE A CONSULTANT
CONTRACT WITH ATOKA, INC. TO PROVIDE
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENTS BEFORE
ACCEPTANCE OF DONATED OR PURCHASED
PROPERTIES FOR CITY DEPARTMENTS ON
AN NAS NEEDEDN BASIS FOR ONE YEAR.

WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock receives property
donations and purchases property on a regular basis; and
WHEREAS, the City Attorney's office recently suggested that
all City departments initiate environmental assessments before
acceptance of donated or purchased properties; and
WHEREAS, this practice will reduce the City's exposure to
costly hazardous material removals and other liabilities that
can be revealed after purchase through more detailed studies.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to negotiate a
consultant contract with ATOKA, Inc. to provide environmental
assessments before acceptance of donated or purchased properties
for City Departments on an "as needed" basis for one year.
SECTION 2. Funds are available in various Operative and
Special Project Accounts for each department.
