A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO REQUEST FEDERAL FUNDING ASSISTANCE FOR 525
THE CENTRAL HIGH MUSEUM AND COMMEMORATIVE
GARDEN TO PROVIDE RECREATIONAL AND
LEISURE OPPORTUNITIES FOR CITIZENS OF
WHEREAS, Little Rock, Arkansas and the Central High Museum
Board seek to improve cultural, recreational and leisure
opportunities within the City and desire to have federal funding
assistance where possible; and
WHEREAS, in order to obtain the funds necessary to develop
and improve the Commemorative Garden site for such a
recreational and leisure area, it is necessary to obtain a grant
from the appropriate agency of the United States Government;
and
WHEREAS, the plans for such a recreational and leisure area
have been prepared and studied; and
WHEREAS, the Little Rock Board of Directors is well aware
and apprised of the above mentioned project, and that the City
of Little Rock, working through the Central High Museum Board,
will provide the local portion of the development cost of the
entire project, and guarantee that the area in question will
remain dedicated and perpetually maintained as recreational and
leisure space.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to make
application through the Arkansas Department of Parks and
Tourism, National Park Service, U.S. Department of Interior, for
assistance to develop recreational facilities for the City.
