RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE
CONTINUATION OF A TRUANCY CENTER BY
THE LITTLE ROCK SCHOOL DISTRICT;
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the Little Rock School District has operated a
truancy center as a means of helping deal with children that are
habitually absent from school; and
WHEREAS, this center is crucial to assuring that students
stay in school and away from negative influences that could
severely hamper their opportunities for a useful and productive
life; and
WHEREAS, funding for this Center is in jeopardy and the
program may not be continued by the Little Rock School District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little
Rock, Arkansas, states its unqualified endorsement for a truancy
center and formally requests that the Little Rock School Board
continue the funding for this center as a part of its 1996 -97
budget.
