A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE

DECISION OF THE PULASKI COUNTY

MULTI- PURPOSE CIVIC CENTER

FACILITIES BOARD SELECTION OF THE

EAST SITE AS THE LOCATION OF THE
10
PROPOSED ARENA SITE; AND FOR OTHER

PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, at an election held on August 1, 1995, the voters
14
of Pulaski County approved a one -cent countywide sales tax to be
15 used, in part, to acquire and construct a multi - purpose civic
16
center; and
17 WHEREAS,' a county public facilities board was created to
18 explore options for this civic center, to select a site, and to
19 oversee construction; and
20 WHEREAS, on December 15, 1995, this facilities board
21 entered into a contractual agreement with Barnes, Quinn, Flake &
22 Anderson, Inc., to explore two alternatives in North Little Rock
23 as potential sites; and
24 WHEREAS, after careful consideration of various criteria
25 including physical characteristics, site development issues,
26 projected acquisition cost, availability, surrounding impact of
27 the area on the site, and the impact of the site on the
28 community, it was determined that a "Modified East Site" roughly
29 bordered by Broadway on the North, Riverfront Drive on the
30 South, Cypress on the East, and the Union Pacific Railway line
31 on the west, was the most appropriate location for the new
32 arena.
33 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
34 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: �
35 SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little
36 Rock, Arkansas, commends the Multi- Purpose Civic Center

Facilities Board of Pulaski County, Arkansas, for its selection 3
of a site for the new proposed arena and, further, pledges its
continued support to the development and realization of this
project at the area identified as the Modified East Site.
