5 A RESOLUTION TO COMMEND THE TWENTY -ONE
6 (21) HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, COLLECTIVELY
7 AND INDIVIDUALLY, WHO ARE CITIZENS OF THE
a CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, AND WHO
9 HAVE EARNED SPECIAL SCHOLASTIC
10 DISTINCTION AS A 1995' NATIONAL MERIT
11 SEMIFINALIST; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

13 WHEREAS, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation uses a
14 student's performance on the Preliminary /National Merit Student
15 Qualifying Test as a basis for initially qualifying students as
16 Semifinalists for a National Merit Scholarship; and
17 WHEREAS, National Merit Semifinalists constitute
18 approximately one -half of one percent (0.5 %) of the nation's
19 1996 graduating senior students; and
20 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock produced 21 such
21 semifinalists this year; and
22 WHEREAS, such recognition reflect's positively upon the City
23 of Little Rock, Arkansas, and also serves as an inspiration for
24 other students within the City; and
25 WHEREAS, the. Board of Directors wishes to honor these
26 students for this outstanding scholastic achievement.
27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
28 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
29 SECTION 1: The Board of Directors of the City of Little
30 Rock, Arkansas, grants special recognition, collectively and
31 individually, in honor of the 21 students who are residents of
32 the City of Little Rock and who have distinguished themselves as
33 1995 National Merit Semifinalists.
34 SECTION 2: The Clerk is directed to give each student an
35 appropriately individualized copy of this Resolution in the form
36 attached as Exhibit A.

WHEREAS, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation uses a

WFIIUZEAS, Sarah Adkins, has achieved distinction this
academic year as a National Merit Semifinalist.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1: The Board of Directors of the City of Little
Rock, Arkansas, grants special recognition and praise to Sarah
Adkins for outstanding academic achievement as a National Merit
Semifinalist for the 1995 -96 school year.
