A RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO SEER LEGISLATION
THAT PMU41TS A LOCAL GOVERNMENT TO ADOPT
CERTAIN CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM'S FOR LOCAL
ELECTIONS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, the Little Rock Board of Directors has recently
considered and adopted a code of ethics to be followed by
members of the Board; and
WHEREAS, the Board is precluded from adopting more
stringent requirements governing campaign finance and
contributions for local government campaigns; and
WHEREAS, the Board believes that local governing bodies
should have authority to adopt more stringent requirements that
those now required by state campaign laws; and
WHEREAS, such authority to local governing bodies must be
granted by the General Assembly.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. The Board of Directors states its intent to
request legislation that grants local governing bodies 'the
authority to adopt ordinances and resolutions to regulate
campaign finances and contributions to candidates for election
to a local governing body during the period between elections
and the period immediately after election even if such measures
otherwise conflict with state law.
