THE CITY
MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT
WITH IN AFFORDABLE HOUSING, INC., TO
PROVIDE EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND
COUNSELING TO LOW - INCOME, POTENTIAL
HOME BUYERS.

WHEREAS, the proposal is consistent with the City's
Comprehensive Housing Affordability Strategy, developed with
extensive participation, which identified home ownership
counseling services as a necessary component in providing
affordable housing to low- income persons; and
WHEREAS, IN Affordable Housing, Inc., is a non - profit
organization formed in 1994 by principals Gerry Nash and Roma
Isom to provide housing counseling, home buyer education classes
and to promote home ownership through housing fairs; and
WHEREAS, In Affordable Housing has received funding from
local financial institutions, the Winthrop Rockefeller
Foundation, and has applied to the City for a onetime operating
subsidy in the amount of $32,000; and
WHEREAS, the Residential Housing Facilities Board has
approved use of a $32,000 balance from a previous grant to the
City for housing counseling services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into an
agreement with IN Affordable Housing, Inc., in the amount of
$32,000 over a eight month period to provide education,
training, and counseling to low income, potential home buyers.
SECTION 2. Funding for this project is available from the
Residential Housing Facilities Board.
