RESOLUTION NO. 9,384
A RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO ENTER INTO
A REGIONAL DISCUSSION REGARDING THE
FORMATION OF A METROPOLITAN WATER
DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, abundant and high quality potable water is
essential for urban growth; and
WHEREAS, the Central Arkansas metropolitan area is a
single, interdependent economic region; and
WHEREAS, urban growth adequately supported by essential
public infrastructure is important to economic prosperity; and
WHEREAS, the economic prosperity of the region benefits the
citizens of Little Rock.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS;
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors intends to enter into a
regional discussion regarding the formation of a metropolitan
water district; that during such discussions issues regarding
equity ownership, equalized rate structures, regional economic
development, urban growth strategies and long range water
supplies will be entertained.
SECTION 2. The Board hopes to consider specific proposals
for the formation of such a district within sixty days.
