A RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO ENTER INTO
2 THE PRIVATIZATION OF SOLID WASTE
3 COLLECTION PROGRAMS WITH THE PULASKI
4 COUNTY REGIONAL SOLID WASTE
5 MANAGEMENT DISTRICT; AND FOR OTHER
6 PURPOSES.
7 WHEREAS, the Board of Directors has participated in a
8 request for proposals to privatize a portion of the trash
9 collection within the City as a part of a program being reviewed
10 by the Pulaski County Regional Solid Waste Management District;
11 and
WHEREAS, the responses to these proposals have provided
12 some very exciting ideas that the City wishes to pursue, but for
13 which the City is not yet ready to formalize contractual
14 relations; and,
15 WHEREAS, the Board believes it is important to state its
16 need to study this project more closely, but its intention to
participate in this project,
17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
18 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
19 SECTION 1. The Board states its intent to enter into
20 agreements for the privatization of solid waste pickup and
21 recycling services pursuant to a contract with Waste Management,
Inc., of Arkansas, as a part of a program sponsored by the
22 Pulaski County Regional Solid Waste Management District upon
23 completion of further study and review of how this program will
24 impact City services, and how this program can be assured of
25 protecting the jobs of current municipal employees.
