A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ALLOCATE FUTURE -LITTLE ROCK INITIATIVE FUNDING FOR
DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND HISTORY;
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 16,674 included an appropriation of $3,000,000 for
FUTURE - Little Rock recommended development of a new Museum of Science and
History; and
WHEREAS, the Museum staff have recommended a budget for preliminary
planning and concept development costs for 1995.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to allocate $83,660
appropriated for development of a new Museum of Science and History in accordance
with the budget attached to this Resolution.

ARKANSAS MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND HISTORY
REQUEST FOR ALLOCATION OF FUNDING
FOR THE NEW MUSEUM
I. MARKETING STUDY -
■ $8,000 for a local consultant to determine topics of public interest
II. STAFF SUPPORT (Using Museum staff in lieu of costlier consultants) -
■ $19,650 for the Director of Exhibits to pursue development of the exhibits
■ $12,650 for the Exhibits Curator to design and develop exhibits
■ $4,100 for the Director of Programs to develop social science experiences
■ $2,160 for the Life Science Educator to develop life science experiences
■ $4,000 for the Physical and Earth Science Educator to develop experiences in
her areas
III. EQUIPMENT AND RESOURCES -
■ $4,000 for books, videos and computer software to be used in planning the
exhibits and programs
IV. CONSULTANTS -
■ $4,400 travel and per diems for out of town exhibit design consultants
V. RESEARCH -
■ $2,500 travel for staff to visit other museums
■ $200 miscellaneous
VI. NEW PERSONNEL -
■ $22,000 for temporary assistance in exhibit research, script writing and
concept development for exhibits for one year prior to construction
VII. TOTAL REQUEST - $83,660
