A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT
EXTENSION WITH PRUDENTIAL INSURANCE
COMPANY OF AMERICA TO PROVIDE HEALTH
INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK EMPLOYEES FOR A TWELVE
MONTH PERIOD EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1,
1995.
WHEREAS, Prudential has provided health insurance by way of
managed care programs since the City first adopted managed care
in 1988; and
WHEREAS, Prudential submitted a renewal proposal for
coverage effective January 1, 1995, which provides for a 4.6%
decrease in premium rates; and
WHEREAS, after review by staff and the City's independent
insurance consultant it is recommended that the contract be
renewed based on the proposed premium and Prudential's
aggressive management of health care costs; and
WHEREAS, this renewal represents the second year of a
maximum three year contract.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a
contract with the Prudential Insurance Company of America to
provide health care insurance coverage for City of Little Rock
employees for a twelve month period, effective January 1, 1995.
